Introduction
Geography is studied as a separate subject throughout the four Years. The pupils are encouraged to use an enquiring approach to develop their knowledge of human and physical places and environmental change.
During Key Stage 2 pupils investigate a variety of people, places and environments at different scales in the local area, the UK and abroad, and start to make connections between different places in the world. They find out how people affect the environment and how they are affected by it.They carry out geographical enquiry inside and outside the classroom. In doing this they ask geographical questions, and use geographical skills and resources such as maps, atlases, aerial photographs and ICT.
During Key Stage 3 pupils investigate a wide range of people, places and environments at different scales around the world. They learn about geographical patterns and processes and how political, economic, social and environmental factors affect contemporary geographical issues. They also learn about how places and environments are interdependant. They identify geographical questions, collect and analyse written and statistical evidence, and develop their own opinions. They use a wide range of geographical skills and resources such as maps, satellite images and ICT.
